  About Us

The Aoibhneas Foundation, a new Irish charity, has been established in Dublin, Ireland, to implement an inclusive, comprehensive approach to eradicating Violence in the Home (Domestic Violence) in Ireland and elsewhere.

We believe that Violence in the Home is:
  • A human rights issue, disproportionately affecting women and children
  • A major public health and community welfare issue as well as an important Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issue
  • Not only a crime against individuals but one which undermines democracy itself.
Under a five-year strategic plan, the Foundation aims to build on the fifteen years of experience in research and crisis-intervention management in the "Aoibhneas" Women's Refuge in Dublin. In particular, it aims to address additional challenges such as the prevention of Violence in the Home, and post-crisis personal development of victims, including, most importantly, children.

The Foundation will be officially launched on 14th November 2003 at the Masque Ball in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

This fund-raising event will increase awareness of children living with Violence in the Home and all proceeds will benefit the Aoibhneas Foundation.
